February 4 - April 9, 2006

As a part of Black History Month, the Reading Public Museum is exhibiting the work of local, self-taught artist Edward Terrell. Entitled Berks Now: Edward Terrell “Metamorphosis,” the exhibition is located in the Auditorium Hallway.
Mr. Terrell is the Chairman and Art Director of the African American Coalition of Reading (ACOR), and has conducted art workshops around the world, including Spain, Portugal, Israel, Norway, and Australia. His work was included in the Governors’ Awards in the Arts exhibition at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in 2004. He is a member of the Berks Arts Council.
Terrell works in mixed media, papier mache mask creations and oil on canvas to create abstract and three-dimensional works.
Terrell states, “In a world that is always changing, the metamorphosis of what I see and feel is what I take comfort in, in my art. The body of work hanging here is a style and process of my own. The work in this show deals with my issues as I look inside and outside of the world around me. The overall theme, Metamorphosis, is about changes, ending consciousness and going over to the other side.”

The Berks Now series is part of an on-going commitment to showcase the best art of our region.
Admission to the Museum is: $7 adults (18-60), $5 children/seniors/students (w/ID) and free to members and children under four years old. Guest passes are not valid for this exhibition. The Reading Public Museum’s hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday Noon to 5 p.m.
